PROPERTY MARKET TO CARRY ON THROUGH WEST OF SCOTLAND LOCAL LOCKDOWN MEASURES

02/09/2020 14:29:00

First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, announced on the evening of 1 September 2020 that, following an increase in Coronavirus cases in the West of Scotland, additional restrictions have been introduced for people living in Glasgow City, East Renfrewshire and West Dunbartonshire.

The restricted measures centre on preventing separate households meeting indoors in social settings.

This caused some initial confusion within our industry on whether or not property viewings and house visits could still go ahead within affected areas.

Industry body, ALRA, have clarified the position and sent out an update today with the following advice, “Whilst it may be advisable to postpone non-essential inspections or viewings of properties or, if possible, delay a home move at this time, estate and letting agents can continue to operate but with extra vigilance and must still adhere to the hygiene measures in the existing Scottish Government guidance on moving home and Propertymark best practice and guidance on house viewings, moves, and maintenance.”

The local restrictions have been introduced for an initial two-week period from midnight on 1 September 2020 and will be reviewed in seven days.

We look forward to continuing serving our clients safely, sensibly, and successfully. Our current COVID-19 protocol can be viewed here - https://www.scottishpropertycentre.net/news/covid-19-information-and-protocol-for-owners-and-viewers/
