Now we are well into 2018 a number of interesting stats have been released in the press recently in relation to the 2017 property market.
Property portal Rightmove released a list of the Top 10 places where homes have been selling the quickest with a national average of 67 days. Top of the UK wide list was Livingston (23 days), followed in 2nd place by Edinburgh (34 days) with Falkirk and Glasgow also getting a mention in joint 6th with an average of 36 days.
We decided to put our Shawlands branch in the South Side of Glasgow to the test to see how they compare.
Analysing all their sales data between January - December 2017 they took an average of 26.9 days to secure a sale. Some 40 days less than the national average and almost 10 days faster than their Glasgow competitors.
The data also showed that they sold 95.65% of properties they listed during 2017, dwarfing Purplebricks reported figure of 51.6%.
Speed of sale isn’t always the most important factor though, the number 1 priority for most sellers will be achieving the best price and not the fastest sale. Again, we put the Shawlands branch to the test.
During 2017 they achieved a staggering £298,828 over and above the home report value for their clients, with some of these sales listed below.
Director Craig Smith commented “2017 was an exceptional year for the home seller in the South Side. Supply has been short which has led to fierce competition between buyers and inevitably a closing date scenario for the majority of properties. This generally resulted in a sale of at least 5-10% over the home report value, with some properties selling for substantially more.”
